Marie-Volcy Pelletier
Marie-Volcy Pelletier, a native of Paris, is an adjunct instructor of
‘cello at Smith College. By age twenty Volcy was a member of the Lyon
Symphony Orchestra and went on to win a Fulbright Scholarship to study
with Bernard Greenhouse, former ’cellist of the Beaux Arts Trio, at
the New England Conservatory. Volcy has been featured in chamber music
and solo recitals on both sides of the Atlantic. She has been the
Acting Principal Cello of the Orquestra Ciutat de Barcelona in Spain
and the Bournemouth Sinfonietta in the UK as well as frequently
performing with the London Symphony Orchestra. Volcy was on the
faculty of Sarah Lawrence College as a member of the Laurentian String
Quartet. She has performed as a founding member of the Concert Players
String Trio in London, the Forster String Trio, and the Kinor String
Quartet in New York. Volcy frequently performs at the Monadnock Music Festival,
with the Smith Chamber Music Society and teaches at Greenwood Music
Camp. She is a member of the Rose Colored Glasses Chamber Ensemble.
