Marie-Volcy Pelletier

Marie-Volcy Pelletier, cellist, is a native of Paris. France. Volcy was already a member of the Lyon Symphony at the age of twenty-one. Subsequently she won a Fulbright Scholarship to study with Bernard Greenhouse, cellist of the renowned Beaux Arts Trio, at the New England Conservatory, where she received her Graduate Diploma.

Volcy has been the Acting Principal cellist of the Orquestra Ciutat de Barcelona in Spain and the Bournemouth Sinfonietta in the UK. While living in London she frequently participated in concerts of the London Symphony Orchestra.

Volcy has been featured in chamber music concerts and given solo recitals on both sides of the Atlantic. She has performed at the Salo de Cents concerts in Barcelona, Spain as well has having been a founding member of the Concert Players String Trio in London, the Forster String Trio and the Kinor Quartet in New York City. She was also a member of the Laurentian String Quartet, which held a residency at Sarah Lawrence College. Volcy performs frequently with the Smith Chamber Ensemble at Smith College in Northampton, MA and has performed at the Monadnock Music Festival in NH and with the Lighthouse Chamber Players in Cap Code, MA.

Recognized as a highly effective teacher, Volcy serves on the faculty of the Greenwood Music Camp and is an adjunct instructor of cello at Smith College.
